Well, maybe not naked, but these European gals would sure look that way to the Thai people who were serving them drinks at one of the highest bars in the world. In a land where women still cover their arms to go into temples and real men don't wear shorts, these HiSo visitors were treated very politely and gently.
Some Bangkok friends and I had thought that taking a teacher from the provinces to this place would be a memorable treat. Bad idea. In land where a worker makes $6 on good day, $15 drinks are a bit of a scandal. The teacher was polite and admired the view, but later took me to the rail and pointed down 67 stories, chatting about average citizens in Bangkok and how much money they make in various jobs. There was no judgment there, but I was convicted. I haven't been back to the bar in the sky.
