Monks on Holiday: Living Small

I confess I watched these three monks from a distance for about 15 minutes.  They were having as much fun as an eight year old in Disneyworld.  Each had a camera and they shot everything in sight, pointing and exclaiming and taking delight.  The weird thing was that they were visiting a shrine. If I lived the life of a monk, studying all day, fasting after noon, walking around barefoot with a begging ball at dawn, and cleaning the temple grounds in the morning, the last place I'd want to go on  my day off would be another temple.

The thing about monks is that they seem to be able to make fun out of just about anything. Monks on holiday, living small.

I'm  photographer, by hobby and passion, but some of my best sightseeing has been when I've left the cameras at home and just paid attention.
