Epictetus, the Beggar, and the Buddha

I saw this fellow inside the walls of the Ancient City of Chiang Mai. He looked healthy and well fed. Epictetus taught that most beggars have enough to eat. What they don't have is choice.

At a shelter near my house in Arizona, you can get a sandwich any time they're open. But it's peanut butter. Every day. Peanut butter. Creamy, not chunky.  Enough to eat but no choice.
