Nobody Can Skate in Paris: Living Small

Every year they flood the grounds in front of the Hotel de Ville (city hall) in Paris. Every year Parisians skate. Once.

Everybody knows how to skate in my home state, Minnesota.  Not in Paris. Just about everyone looked like they were on ice for the first time, wide stanced and wobbly.  The two or three skaters who zipped past everyone backwards were probably tourists from Holland, or maybe Minneapolis.

Parisians normally like looking sophisticated and put together. Not when skating at the Hotel de Ville. All those beginners were having more fun than I ever saw on Lake Johanna. These two girls were no exception. Ice Capades, Paris style, living small.
