I would never ride a motor scooter in Bangkok. They weave between cars and zip down alleys as a matter of course. Thais seem to have a whole different level of skill that most Farang. But accidents are rare and horns almost never heard. What's up?
My theory is that the Thai drivers are calm -- no road rage -- and that as Buddhists they pay attention better than other people.
Look at the carnage on the streets of Djakarta or Los Angeles, one Muslim, one Melting Pot. I think only the Buddhists have learned to drive with such attention and politeness, though at terrifying top speed.
